U.S. Stocks Gain on Report Obama to Name Geithner to Treasury Quote:Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks rose after NBC News reported that President-elect Barack Obama will name New York Federal Reserve Bank President Timothy Geithner to head the Treasury. The S&P 500, which is poised for a third-straight weekly decline, gained 1.8 percent to 765.89 at 3:08 p.m. in New York.
